Tamu Espresso is our top-quality, single-origin coffee made from 100% Arabica beans. The cup is well balanced, with a rich flavour profile that includes notes of cocoa nibs, vanilla, and delicate florals. Its unique characteristics have earned it an SCA cupping score of 85.
This exceptional coffee is grown exclusively by smallholder farmers from Shishton Village, one of the oldest and finest coffee-growing areas in Tanzania. Nestled between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, the region enjoys abundant rainfall and fertile volcanic soils. The beans are hand-harvested, fully washed, and sun-dried to preserve their natural quality.
The coffee farmers have organized themselves into a producer association (AMCOS – Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society) and invested in a state-of-the-art wet mill, enabling them to produce some of the best coffees in Tanzania. Baobab Kaffee and its partners pay premium prices to farmers and support various community projects in the area.
Through a partnership with Taylor Winch, 400 solar lamps have been distributed to coffee farmers and their families — a small light helping to illuminate brighter futures.
A dedicated school program has also empowered over 500 students to earn their secondary school diplomas. Students of all ages benefit from personalized textbook access, solar lamps for evening study, and exam fee reimbursements. The program also offers field trips, guest lectures, reproductive health workshops, and university application support, opening new doors to education and opportunity.
