Tamu Espresso is our high-quality single-origin coffee made from 100% Arabica beans (Old Variety of Kent). Our roast develops a balanced and rich aroma with gentle acidity and notes of cacao nibs, vanilla, and delicate floral tones. Its unique characteristics were awarded 85 points in the SCA cupping test.
This exceptional coffee is grown exclusively by smallholder farmers from the village of Shishton, one of the oldest and finest coffee-growing regions in Tanzania. Nestled between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, the region benefits from abundant rainfall and fertile volcanic soils. The beans are hand-picked, thoroughly washed, and sun-dried to preserve their natural quality.
The coffee farmers have joined together in a producer association (AMCOS – Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society) and invested in a state-of-the-art wet mill, enabling them to produce some of Tanzania’s finest coffees. Baobab Kaffee and its partners pay premium prices to the farmers and support various community projects in the region. As part of these efforts, 400 solar lamps have been distributed to coffee farmers and their families, and a school program has already enabled more than 500 students to obtain their secondary school diplomas.
