About
Our Story
George Strunden, founder of Baobab Kaffee, is an agricultural engineer who lived and worked for more than 30 years in Africa. During this time, George worked with coffee farmers, improving cultivation practices and marketing of their crops. Throughout his career George linked socio-economic development with environmental conservation. He founded and led one of Africa’s first community conservation projects — TACARE — in collaboration with Jane Goodall near Gombe National Park in Tanzania, the home of wild chimpanzees.
The TACARE initiative tackled deforestation while empowering local communities, blending environmental conservation with socio-economic development. By earning the trust of local villagers, George and his team developed tailored action plans that addressed each community’s unique needs, proving that lasting change comes from within.
This hands-on experience shaped George’s belief in the powerful link between sustainable agriculture, environmental health, and community development — a philosophy that now fuels Baobab Kaffee’s commitment to ethically sourced, sustainably grown coffee.
Our coffee isn’t just about great flavor — it’s about supporting the people and ecosystems behind every bean.

Small Batches
Roasted in limited quantities for greater precision and control, allowing each bean’s profile to shine.
Flavour-First Approach
The goal is to highlight the natural flavours, aromas, and nuances specific to each origin or variety.
Rooted in Community
Rooted in our neighborhood, inspired by the world. We bring people together over coffee by creating an inviting space.
Artisanal Roasting
What Is Artisanal Coffee Roasting?
Artisanal coffee roasting is a hands-on craft that celebrates quality, flavor, and individuality. Unlike large-scale commercial roasting, which prioritizes volume and consistency, artisan roasters work in small batches with meticulous attention to detail — coaxing out the unique character of each bean.
Artisanal Roasting
Hands-On Process
Temperature, airflow, and roast time are carefully monitored by skilled roasters, often using their senses as much as their tools.
Custom Roast Profiles
Each coffee is treated individually, with roast curves designed to bring out its best attributes — whether that’s juicy acidity, deep chocolate notes, or floral complexity.
Specialty-Grade Beans
Artisan roasting often focuses on specialty coffees — high-scoring beans sourced for their exceptional quality and traceability.
